BIOGRAPHY
Cellist Ju Hyun Lee (28), born in South Korea, first took piano lessons at the age of three before beginning the cello two years later. During her career in Bloomington, IN, and Boston, MA, she has garnered prizes in numerous competitions, most notably the David Popper International Competition and Walgreens National Concerto Competition.
She has performed on NPR’s “From the Top,” collaborating with pianist Christopher O’Riley, and appeared as a featured soloist with New England Conservatory Youth Symphony Orchestra in Jordan Hall. She has also performed a debut recital in the KUMHO Prodigy Recital Series in Seoul, Korea and appeared as concerto soloist with orchestras in the US, such as the Boston Civic Orchestra, Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonic Society of Arlington, Muncie Orchestra, and New World Youth Symphony.
Through the Harvard/New England Conservatory dual degree program, she studied with Profs. Paul Katz and Lluìs Claret. Currently, she is a doctoral student at Yale University.
